Jupiter Enters Leo on October 31, 2026: What Guru in Simha Means for All 12 Rashis

Every few weeks, a forward lands in the family WhatsApp group. "Guru is changing rashi. Big changes coming for these 5 signs!"

And somewhere in the same group, an uncle replies with a folded-hands emoji.

Most of these messages do the same thing. They call your sign "lucky" or "unlucky" and stop there. No date you can verify. No reason. No idea what to do on Monday morning.

And this is where it gets interesting, because this transit has a twist most posts miss. Guru (Jupiter) leaves its exaltation in Karka (Cancer) and enters Simha (Leo) on October 31, 2026, right next to Ketu. That meeting is real. But it is also short.

In this guide, we'll cover the exact dates, what Guru does in Simha, how the Guru-Ketu yuti (conjunction) works, what the classical texts say for each of the 12 rashis (Moon signs), and what changes when Jupiter turns retrograde in December.

Quick answer

Jupiter (Guru) enters Simha (Leo) on October 31, 2026 at 12:50 PM IST, leaving its exaltation sign Karka (Cancer). It joins Ketu in Magha nakshatra for roughly five weeks, until Ketu moves into Karka on November 25 or December 5, depending on the node used. Jupiter turns retrograde in Simha on December 13, 2026 at 6:25 AM IST. Results are read from your Moon sign: Mesha, Karka, Tula, Dhanu and Kumbha get the classically good houses.

Two quick notes. Drik Panchang lists Rahu-Ketu both ways: the true node (November 25) and the mean node (December 5). Check which node your family panchang follows. The retrograde starts on December 13 in India (6:25 AM IST); Drik's US pages show December 12.

Classical anchor: Phaladeepika (Ch. 26, v. 30) says Jupiter and Venus deliver best in the middle of a sign, roughly 10 to 20 degrees. This first Simha stay ends under 3 degrees. So treat it as a preview. The full-strength Simha months come from mid-2027.

Why Jupiter leaving Cancer matters

Since June 2, Guru has been in Karka, where it is exalted. BPHS (Ch. 3, sl. 49-50) names Karka as Jupiter's exaltation sign, with the deepest point at 5 degrees. Phaladeepika (Ch. 1) agrees.

Exalted Jupiter is generous, protective and inclined to say yes.

Simha is different. It belongs to the Sun, and BPHS (Ch. 4, sl. 12) calls it a royal, sattvic sign. Phaladeepika (Ch. 2) lists the Sun among Jupiter's friends. So Guru is comfortable in Simha, like a senior teacher visiting a friend's house. Just not at its peak.

What changes in real life? Guru in Karka was about nurturing: family, home, emotional safety. Guru in Simha is about visibility, leadership and ego. The question moves from "who is looking after me?" to "what am I willing to stand behind?"

How to read this: your Moon sign, not your Sun sign

Transit results (gochar) are read from the Moon. Phaladeepika (Ch. 26, v. 1) calls the Moon's sign the most important reference for transits. Verse 2 lists where each planet gives results from the Moon. Jupiter: 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th. Ketu: 3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th.

Count from your Moon sign to Simha. That is your Jupiter house. If you do not know your Moon sign, your kundali will show it.

Your Moon signSimha is your...Jupiter (Phaladeepika)KetuTheme
Mesha (Aries)5thFavourableNeutralStudy, children, creativity
Vrishabha (Taurus)4thGuardedNeutralHome and property patience
Mithuna (Gemini)3rdGuardedFavourableEffort, short trips, writing

Makara (Capricorn)8thGuardedNeutralJoint money, caution
Kumbha (Aquarius)7thFavourableNeutralPartnership, marriage talk
Meena (Pisces)6thGuardedFavourableWork, health, competition

"Guarded" does not mean bad. It means the text lists a heavier result for that house, so plan with more care.

One more rule: vedha (v. 7). A good Jupiter house can be blocked if another planet sits in its matching obstruction house. Here the pairs are Mesha-Karka, Karka-Mithuna, Tula-Vrishabha, Dhanu-Kanya and Kumbha-Mesha. From December 5, for example, Ketu sits in Karka, the vedha house for Mesha.

Your lagna (ascendant) adds a second layer. Moon sign shows how it feels. Lagna shows where in life it lands.

The Guru-Ketu yuti in Simha: five weeks, not a year

Ketu is already in Simha, in Magha, and has been through 2026. When Guru enters on October 31, it enters Magha too, the nakshatra Ketu rules. For about five weeks, they share a sign and a star.

Honestly, there is a lot of fear-marketing around this. Some sites call it "Guru Chandal Yoga". That name traditionally belongs to Guru with Rahu. Neither BPHS nor Phaladeepika, in the chapters we checked, names a special yoga for Guru with Ketu. So we will not invent one.

What the texts do give us:

1. Guru is the teacher and minister. BPHS (Ch. 3, sl. 12-13) says Guru confers knowledge and happiness. Sl. 27 calls Guru learned in the Shastras.

2. Ketu is the detached, restless node. BPHS (Ch. 3, sl. 30) says Ketu is akin to Rahu, and the nodes count as malefics. Phaladeepika (Ch. 8, closing note) adds Kuja-vat Ketu: Ketu gives results like Mars. Think sharp edges, impatience, sudden cuts.

3. Together, the common-sense reading. Guru wants to expand and believe. Ketu wants to strip away and question. Simha is about ego and identity. So a belief, a teacher or a status symbol gets tested. Not destroyed. Tested.

An example. A young manager in Gurugram follows a finance influencer and has put savings into his "course". In this window, check the claims in writing and ask for documents. Respect the teacher, but verify the teaching.

Who feels it most? People with Moon in Simha, Mesha or Dhanu, Simha lagna, or a running Guru or Ketu dasha.

There is a second round. Guru slides back into Karka on January 25, 2027 and meets Ketu again until June 26. That one happens in Guru's exaltation sign, so it plays out differently.

Guru in Simha, rashi by rashi

Each rashi is read from your Moon sign, with the classical result from Phaladeepika (Ch. 26, v. 18-20), one real-life picture, and one action.

Mesha (Aries): Jupiter in your 5th

Classical result: birth of children, noble company, royal favour. A trikona house, the friendliest place for Jupiter on this list. Think study, creativity, romance. A UPSC aspirant stuck in revision may find the right mentor. Saturn in Meena makes this the first phase of your Sade Sati, so expect some weight too. From December 5, Ketu in Karka can block this result through vedha, so use November.

Do this: Start the course or project in November.

Vrishabha (Taurus): Jupiter in your 4th

Classical result: sorrow through relations, humiliation. In real life it is usually simpler: home, mother's health and property need patience. Picture a joint family in Lucknow debating whether to sell an old flat, everyone with a different number. This transit rewards the person who slows down.

Do this: Sign no property paper in a hurry.

Mithuna (Gemini): Jupiter in your 3rd

Classical result: obstacles in business, separation from friends, loss of position. But Ketu is in a good house for you, so it is mixed, not heavy. A freelancer in Pune may lose one client and win two better ones if the pitch is sharp. Effort counts more than luck.

Do this: Keep every deal in writing.

Karka (Cancer): Jupiter in your 2nd

Classical result: wealth, domestic happiness, influence over others. Guru just left your 1st house and moved into family, savings and speech. A good time to prepare for a wedding in the family or build an emergency fund. Ketu enters your sign on December 5.

Do this: Start one money habit: a SIP or a recurring deposit.

Simha (Leo): Jupiter in your 1st

Classical result: departure from the native place, heavy expenditure, ill will. Frankly, Guru and Ketu both sit on your Moon sign, so everything lands personally. The good version: relocation, investing in yourself, a bold identity change. A Delhi marketer moving to Bengaluru for a bigger role. The caution: temper and spending. Ketu is Mars-like, so avoid shouting matches and fast driving until December.

Do this: Spend on skills, not show. Consult a senior before one big call.

Kanya (Virgo): Jupiter in your 12th

Classical result: grief and fear through property. Today it reads as expenses, distance and withdrawal. Study-abroad fees, a medical bill, a pilgrimage: money goes out, mostly for things that matter. Also good for sleep, meditation and quiet work.

Do this: Keep a monthly expense sheet.

Tula (Libra): Jupiter in your 11th

Classical result: children, a new position, honour. Ketu is also in a good house for you, the only rashi here where both are supportive. Expect gains through friends, mentors and networks. An increment or promotion talk is realistic. Do not borrow against future income.

Do this: Ask for the role or raise before December 5.

Vrischika (Scorpio): Jupiter in your 10th

Classical result: danger to property, position and children. Ketu is in a good house too, so it is mixed. Career gets busier and louder. If you are eyeing a job switch, resist resigning on a bad Monday.

Do this: Update your resume, but wait for the offer letter before the resignation letter.

Dhanu (Sagittarius): Jupiter in your 9th

Classical result: prosperity all round. Your ruler sits in your house of dharma, teachers and luck. Higher studies, a father's support, a pilgrimage. Magha is the nakshatra of the Pitris (ancestors), so a family ritual or a visit to an elder is well placed. Take care on long road trips until Ketu leaves.

Do this: Call the teacher or elder you keep postponing.

Makara (Capricorn): Jupiter in your 8th

Classical result: tiresome journeys, fatigue, loss of wealth. It is a caution about the 8th house, not doom. Joint accounts, insurance, inheritance and other people's money need care. Rahu also enters your sign in late November or early December.

Do this: Review your term insurance and nominee details. Do not lend what you cannot lose.

Kumbha (Aquarius): Jupiter in your 7th

Classical result: a journey for an auspicious work, happiness with wife, children. Rahu, in your sign so far, leaves around the same time, and Saturn in your 2nd is the last phase of Sade Sati. Partnership is the theme: rishta conversations, a business partner. In November, arguments can flare fast.

Do this: Say yes to one serious conversation, but give the final answer slowly.

Meena (Pisces): Jupiter in your 6th

Classical result: trouble from enemies and cousins, diseases. Saturn is in your sign too, the peak of Sade Sati, so you may feel both. This is a work, health and competition transit. The 6th house rewards effort, so exam prep, service jobs and clearing old debts can move well. Ketu is in a good house for you.

Do this: Prepay a loan and book a health check-up.

What changes on December 13 and after

On December 13, Guru turns retrograde in Simha and seems to stand still for a couple of weeks. The themes of November stop being a conversation and become a pattern.

By then, Ketu has left Simha and Rahu is in Makara. The Guru-Ketu pressure in Simha has eased.

If you are in a "guarded" rashi, treat this as a time to review, not push. If you are in a "favourable" rashi, December is when to follow through on what you started in November.

One more layer. BPHS (Ch. 72, sl. 30-31) says a sign's Ashtakavarga strength is paramount over transit effects. Ask a good astrologer how many bindus Simha holds in your kundali. That number changes how much of the above applies to you.

Frequently asked questions

When does Jupiter enter Leo in 2026?

Jupiter enters Simha (Leo) on October 31, 2026 at 12:50 PM IST, per Drik Panchang for New Delhi. It enters Magha nakshatra at the same moment, in sidereal (Lahiri) reckoning. Before that, it had been in Karka (Cancer), its exaltation sign, since June 2, 2026.

Is Jupiter in Leo good or bad?

It depends on your Moon sign. Per Phaladeepika (Ch. 26), Jupiter gives good results from the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses from the Moon. That means Karka, Mesha, Kumbha, Dhanu and Tula benefit most. Other signs get a guarded reading, which is a prompt to plan carefully, not a reason to fear.

What is the Guru-Ketu conjunction in Leo and how long does it last?

It is Jupiter and Ketu sharing Simha and Magha nakshatra. It starts October 31, 2026 and ends when Ketu enters Karka on November 25 (true node) or December 5 (mean node), so roughly four to five weeks. It repeats in Karka from January 25 to June 26, 2027.

Does Jupiter lose its strength when it leaves Cancer?

It loses exaltation, not its nature. Simha belongs to the Sun, Jupiter's friend, so Guru is comfortable there, just not at its absolute peak. Phaladeepika adds that Jupiter delivers best in the middle of a sign, which in Simha happens in mid-2027.

When does Jupiter turn retrograde in Leo?

Jupiter turns retrograde on December 13, 2026 at 6:25 AM IST (December 12 on Drik's US pages). It slides back into Karka on January 25, 2027, turns direct on April 13, 2027 at 7:40 AM IST, and re-enters Simha on June 26, 2027.

Should I start something new on October 31?

The texts we checked do not ban beginnings on a sign change. Choosing a start date for a business or marriage is a muhurta question tied to your own chart. As a general principle, favour learning, teaching and long-term planning, and check advice and contracts carefully while Guru and Ketu are together.

Do I read Jupiter's transit from my Moon sign or my ascendant?

Start with your Moon sign. Phaladeepika (Ch. 26, v. 1) calls the Moon's sign the most important reference for transit results, so count the houses from it to Simha. Then look at your ascendant (lagna) to see which area of life, such as career, family or money, that house touches in your kundali.

So what do you actually do with this?

When someone in the family asks, "Is Guru in Simha good for us?", the honest answer is: it depends on your Moon sign, your lagna and the dasha you are running. But the pattern most charts share is this. It is a short, sharp preview of Jupiter in Simha, not the full stay. The real months come in mid-2027.

For now, count the house from your Moon, read the line for your rashi, and take one small action. If you do not know your Moon sign, turia's kundali will show it.

Hope this gives you a clearer picture than the forward in the family group.
